Ball State University - Studebaker Demolition

Muncie, IN

Scope of Work:

Asbestos Abatement, Interior Demolition, Selective Demolition, Structural Demolition

Project Detail:

Another excellent example of O’Rourke’s highly specialized selective demolition work, this project included complete interior gut-out of an eight (8) story high-rise dormitory building located on the campus of Ball State University. Work included preparatory asbestos abatement directly followed by removal of all existing interior finishes and treatments (i.e. floor coverings, partition walls, exterior curtain wall system, doors, ceilings and MEP systems) as to expose the original building shell.  In addition, work included a difficult hand separation to allow mass demolition of the integral restroom tower located at the center of the building .  This mass demolition work was performed on a sequential floor-by-floor basis utilizing small machines as to not damage the directly attached building shell scheduled to remain for follow-up renovation/reconstruction.
