Cincinnati Public Schools- Hughes High School Demolition
Location: Cincinnati, OH
Scope of Work:
Structural Demolition, Selective Demolition, Recycling, Excavation, Storm Sewer, Paving, Landscaping
Project Detail:
Another excellent example of O’ROURKE successfully executing difficult demolition work in an active, urban area. This project involved mass demolition of a modern, six-story cast-in-place concrete and steel frame structure built over a full basement and partial sub-basement. The building was located in close proximity to the directly adjacent (and recently renovated) Hughes High School, an active Hospital (Deaconess) and a major University (University of Cincinnati) – and thus required heightened dust control and adjacent property protection measures. Upon completion of the mass demolition work, O’ROURKE backfilled the basement cavity, installed a new storm sewer / detention system, and paved the lot in preparation for immediate use by the neighboring High School. Other miscellaneous work managed / performed by O’ROURKE included isolation and closure of an elevated pedestrian walkway, along with installation of new metal railings, bollards and landscaping to complete the overall site prior to turnover to the Owner.
